color me green

This boy is too cute to be scowling! But whatevs...I am so so SO over the pants belted below the ass (maybe because I live in Brooklyn where even the 6 year olds in my neighborhood dress this way) but I like what's on top - the hair -cut & color and on the bottom -the white Doc Martens- so we'll let the pants slide. Oh and nice accessorizing too!

What to wear on laundry day

You know how on laundry day you end up wearing left over clothing? The t-shirt that is kind of blah or the sweats with oil stains? (No, I don't either) But if you are a poor soul like this you could use some of the ingenuity shown here. This dress is a laundry bag! Belted, pinned and on the town. Oh, and the puffiness that gives it a subtle bubble skirt? A carefully arranged sheet! We ♥ the mind that comes up with this!

all kinds of craziness

Sometimes fashion seems to short circuit...when the rest of the world up-ends why shouldn't fashion? I'll be interested in seeing the collections next week but on the streets I feel like there is a really edgy energy right now which is seen in the revival of a quasi-punk aesthetic and a really anything goes attitude. This girl fits right in with that with her 2-toned half shaved hair, old fur over a kimono, accentuated eyemakeup and (following in the footsteps Ms. Roitfeld) the pantless look...I guess that's a look for less!

Oh Sweet Jane

I'm deviating from my normal style posts to give a shout out to Jane's Closet. They have a website but now will be opening a pop-up shop at 60 N 6th Street in Williamsburg February 1st with a 15% off everything sale. They carry younger designers like Charlotte Ronson and Corey Lynn Calter as well as a wide range of accessories from bags by Deux Lux to unique jewelry by Jill Schwartz to fun winter wear by Wooden Ships. (They'll also have a Valentine's Day sale February 12-14.) It takes guts to open a small boutique in the current economy, so I encourage those of you living large off the L train to shop locally at Jane's Closet.

Maiden Fair

Okay, I'm not sure what her headpiece/hairband is exactly. But it reminds me of what I wore for my First Communion...except that had a veil as well. Maybe hers did originally as well but it got lost between the church and the nightclub. Then again, maybe not!

What can I say? Sooo Eighties! These boys look like a cute new wave boy band...Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, INXS...loving the Crucifix earring ala Madonna and...well everything, actually!

I first met Krystyna two years ago at a Radar Magazine party where I was taking photos for Style Defined. Not only do I love her style but she has insane energy. A rare breed, the native New Yorker, Krystyna's also like the super cool girl from school who is open and friendly with no patience for fakeness or pretentiousness. So I was not surprised to learn that her own website keeps it real as well.
