Bklyn Couple with Great Hair + Cat Eyes

Spotted these two while walking home from the subway. Since I don't reside in that self-consciously fashionable neighborhood that shall not be named (but you know where I mean!) I loved coming across two such fabulous looking people mere blocks from my abode!
I'm especially loving the cat eyes makeup and the snake earrings- which remind me of the door knocker earrings popularized by hip-hop culture in the '80s but on a more sophisticated level.

Shaved sides still going strong

If they made a new Star Wars movie and Rick Owens was the costume designer maybe the end result would be something like this.

just 2 guys in skinny jeans

I know skinny jeans are slowly on their way out...but I'm happy not. quite. yet.

Walking on Rainbows

I've been going crazy trying to figure out  my #NYFW schedule...but one show (and can we say after party?) that's not to be missed is Jeremy Scott. And wouldn't it be swell if THESE were in the swag bag? Hahaha! Not too likely...

Pretty in Pink

If you have hot pink hair maybe black is the best solution. The jacket has a great asymmetry and she's rocking the spiked heels!

Punk Nouveaux

I think the waves in the mohawk make it look more pretty than punk, and that she has a certain gamine quality I adore.

Boy in Red

I love a boy who's not afraid of a little color. The top-stitch on the jacket is cool too.

Retro Nouveaux

I met Mimi from Plaztikmag  at a cocktail party yesterday for the launch of Irina Shabayeva's collection for the  I.N.C.  brand. I love the retro vibe of the hair and the vintage faux fur coat. She also mixes it up with a great Chanel scarf and Marc Jacobs bag.

Crazy Colorful

These girls are full of color and sparkle. I am utterly intrigued by the hair color combo on the girl on the left and while I'm a fan of sequins at night I'm not completely convinced in this instance. So thought I'd ask... do we like the style going on here? and if not how would you make it better?

Richie Rich at The King Collective Party at Juliet

Ahh Juliet...former home of the fabulous BonBon Party that is no more... Well the King Collective holiday party was the next best reason to stop by Juliet again. Richie Rich was one of the hosts and is showing in Richie's world when it comes to accessorizing more is more is more is...

3 on Bond Street

I saw these 3 on Bond Street. One of my favorite streets in NYC. It's just a few blocks but there's this crazy building on it that I love architecturally plus OAK NYC which is one of my favorite stores...and Bond no. 9 - another favorite where all the perfumes are named after places in New York and Daryl K -where I spent $110 each on 2 pairs of super low rise stretch pants like 12 years ago when super low was relatively new and $110 for a pair of pants seemed outrageous to me. (and then $110 seemed reasonable, now it seems outrageous again–**and nothing at Daryl K comes close to $110 so I don't much shop there anymore) But this isn't about me or Bond Street! Why do I like them? Dunno I just do. I especially love the furry muppet jacket of the girl in the middle.

**I stand corrected. The day after I posted this I received an email from Jovonnie who works at Daryl K that said  I found a few items that you may like that are under $110, such as the Black Shirt Dress which retails for $90, the Leather Shoulder Purse which retails for $75, the Chambray Rolled-Sleeve Shirt which retails for $70, the Tie-Dyed Safari Jacket which retails for $60, and the Leopard Camisole which retails for $50. Hopefully these items will make you want to come back to Daryl K to shop!
So you know I will be stopping by there soon & finding something for my self-portrait not a portrait!

Bouffantitis

I love the insanity of New York City. These 3 look like they helped each other get matching hairstyles. It's perfect!

Influential Asian

DSC_0548
This is Takashi. I met him over the weekend but took this photo a few weeks ago! Which is the funny thing about taking street style photos in NYC is that I often see the people again later who were strangers when I took the picture. A small world in the big city. Anyways I'm posting this photo because I'm going to the Japan Now Symposium at FIT today and his look seemed apropos to this. Really excited about the symposium and will tell you all about it!

Amanda x 2

amanda1
It was a ridiculously beautiful day today –especially considering it's almost November! It can be tough trying to figure out what to wear that works with the weather and the seasons in these instances (at least on the East Coast where it's normally cooler) Amanda kept it simple with lightweight neutrals and knitwear draped around her shoulders to guard against a drop in temperature or the assault of air conditioning. The citron belt adds a nice touch of color as well.amanda2
I added this photo so you can see the sideview of her hairstyle. While I openly hate super long hair with a shaved side, short lengths like this totally work in my opinion. I think they're wildly chic.

Black shorts transition from summer to fall

redhead
Shorts are definitely sticking around this fall –and not just because NYC is having the warmest fall on record. Because if they're black and paired with heels they can substitute for the lbd as LA girls probably always knew. On this coast though I would recommend pairing with tights or knee high boots.

more streetstyle in black & white

bw
I don't know if I gravitate to black and white as a color combination or if it suddenly seems everywhere. I actually think it's more of the latter but regardless I've been posting a bit of it. Her look is simple but chic – perfect to go from work to somewhere out at night. I'm also loving her white blonde hair which she french braided. (though you can't see it here - sorry!)

Color Coordinated

rossonCrow
Rosson Crow is one artist with great fashion sense. I saw her all over NYC during fashion week and each time her ensemble completely caught my eye and imagination. ...I doubt it was planned, (tho' you never know) but I love how she's decked out in something that could be seen on a superhero and he has on the batman t-shirt. Also her eyeshadow matches his t-shirt. How brilliantly unexpected is that? So you tell me: was this planned or mere coincidence?

a girl with her boys

skyFerreira
Sky Ferreira looks cool and collected in the simplicity of a motorcycle jacket and short black boots proving you don't need to go crazy to look great –find something classic that works for you instead!

Sleeping standing up on the subway platform

blondeBlog
I took this photo without this girl knowing...I don't normally do that but she was on the far subway platform and she really caught my eye – but then happened to have her eyes closed when I took the shot. I know it's not the most unique style, but I like it.
