If you were a harajuku girl that fell asleep one night in your cozy flat (injapanese city) and woke up in 1985 on the bowery, you might be scared. But how would you cope? by dressing the part of course!?

Gala Darling rocks pink and black
Gala Darling is a blogger that seems to be a bit controversial: people think she's a blogger's best friend who gives business advice on making a living from a blog or a rich girl living off of a trust fund who pretends to make a living...I neither know nor care (although the fact she took off commenting does give me pause). In any case before I knew much about any of that I took this photo. And anyone who knows me well knows I am almost magnetically drawn to hot pink...even though I never wear it myself! So it's good to have a little out there in the world! And if you have a more informed opinion of Ms. Darling feel free to comment below!

Retro Nouveaux
I met Mimi from Plaztikmag at a cocktail party yesterday for the launch of Irina Shabayeva's collection for the I.N.C. brand. I love the retro vibe of the hair and the vintage faux fur coat. She also mixes it up with a great Chanel scarf and Marc Jacobs bag.

One from the vault
So I didn't post yesterday and today is normally one of my self-portraits. But, I have been on the road for the past 2 days driving down to Palm Beach, Florida for what I like to call my personal spa. Basically it's where I spend the holidays and relax and recoup before prepping for...yes, the next Fashion Week. The February fashion week has really been on my mind as of late because I'm looking for interns and I just received my credentials for the tents. So I thought I'd put up a photo of this girl from September about to go to a show: I love a plaid skirt that doesn't evoke thoughts of my Catholic school and I think it's great how she paired it with a simple t-shirt.

Hiraku is hot
I love Hiraku's elegant androgyny. And I'm amused by the key around his neck. It reminds me of being in grade school and having my housekey around my neck...maybe old habits die hard, or maybe it just makes it easier to get home after a long night out!

Pretty in Patterns
I love when someone figures out how to pull off pattern on pattern. This works to me because the striped shirt is off-white so the color picks up the colors in the leopard skirt and the pinstripes on the jacket are very subtle. The other nice thing about this ensemble is the proportions of the cropped jacket with the longer top underneath -and the sleeves of the top longer than the jacket.

a not-a-self-portrait portrait
Okay this isn't a self portrait exactly as it wasn't taken by me, but it fits the street style aesthetic of the blog... this is from earlier tonight on my rooftop in Brooklyn with Manhattan in the background at dusk. And I think my boots kinda look too big here but I also like the look and think they work with the vintage leopard coat. I'm also using this post to announce that I'm starting another blog, called Pixie Warhol where I'll post more personal photos, thoughts etc. So if you want, please check it out...although literally I am JUST starting it!

Urban Tigress
I am digging everything about Pharah: The detailing in her hair, her gorgeous eyes and defined brows, the bright pop of gold that's her jacket and the red boots. This is a girl decked out to party and wearing clothes comfortable enough to go all night yet with enough glam to still get attention. You definitely want to know what after party she's going to...but I promised not to tell!

Simply Chic
So the Huffington Post put me in their Street Style Round up especially because I shoot nightlife style. And ironically it's just past NYFW so all I'm showing is the style of those who came to the shows. But it's so great I can't NOT share it! This girl has the look of someone I could be friends with: her style is elegant yet personal and details like the slouchy sweater and how comfortable it looks altogether gives it a "I don't try too hard" vibe that I really appreciate. The only thing I don't like is the Gucci bag. I am not a fan of alot of logo bags and vintage or not, she could use a different one. But that's me...

Color Coordination
When I see someone with such perfect –and perfectly artificial– color match between hair and clothing I always wonder which came first? I can't begin to know...and even though it could read as a little cheesy, I really like it.

Pretty & Pantless
There is the pantless look of Lady Gaga and Carine Roitfeld that show a bodysuit bottom and then there is the pantless look where it looks like an oversized shirt (but not fitted enough to be a shirtdress)that was seen on Mary-Kate Olsen in 2009 and Taylor Momsen more recently. I have a feeling this could be one of those looks that the wearer will question in years to come but what do you think? Does this work on her? Is it a style you like in general or not?

OAK vs SEVEN
Last night two of the most impossibly cool stores in the city had events. OAK had an intimate party with PBR at their Williamsburg shop, while SEVEN New York had a bash at the Tribeca Grand complete with the Misshapes dj'ing. Ultimately, though it's not a competition: just a little bit of fabulousness for everyone whether in the BK or the City.

Keeping with Color
Thought I'd continue with yesterday's colorful post and add another. I love her "international" sweater vest and little heart bag. I think that if she's going to work the bow it could be a bit bigger. But overall I applaud the color in both their outfits.

Who wears short shorts?
Short shorts are "in" this summer and I have to admit for the most part this is a trend I love. First of all it's a great way to recycle jeans that you're tired of/have worn out. Secondly if they are denim they can go with just about anything and they are easy to dress up or down. They are, however, an item of clothing that can easily be a fashion don't if they're too short (your rear is hanging out) or everything else you have on is small and you look cheap. In my opinion if you're going to wear short shorts with sexy heels (as opposed to chunky platforms or flats) do it like this girl and wear opaque tights. I also like how she has looser things on top - a flowing scarf and layers - to balance it out.

Street Style NYC @ Good Units
This is one from the archive: from a party at Good Units. I love this club below the Hudson Hotel and it's supercool vibe. The best part is that there is NO Cellphone reception so people have to deal with their insecurities and just talk to strangers instead of masking it in self-important texting and chatting. I wish cells were banned from nightlife with the exception of tracking down friends. And if you had friends as fun and stylish as these two you wouldn't be looking for more elsewhere!
