What I'm Wearing Now...Peter Pilotto blouse & Deux Lux Bag (Giveaway Alert!)

So I'm reviving something I started a little while back – which is sharing what I'm wearing once a week! Here I have on the amazing Peter Pilotto blouse I picked up last week at Opening Ceremony. The construction of this top to make the draping is insane! I almost put up a photo of it inside out to show–but thought that might be a bit obsessive! I paired it with Blue Cult wide leg jeans, and I'm also wearing L.A.M.B. Nomad Platform Pumps and Coach Sunglasses.

I'm carrying the Gypsy Satchel by Deux Lux. If you aren't familiar with the label it's unique in that it's super stylish and uses faux leather. We all know Stella McCartney is firmly anti-leather but it's great to find another label that cares equally about fashion and being animal friendly –and a bit better price point in my opinion too! The Gypsy Satchel is a great everyday bag:big enough to throw in everything you need and a great gold metal tassel that adds a big of glam!

I will be giving a Gypsy Satchel bag away at the end of this week! For your chance to win just comment below, on the Style Defined Facebook page or send a tweet to both @katya_nyc and @DeuxLuxBags. Do all 3 for three chances!

The devil with the blue dress on

Oh kids these days! So I skipped the Mermaid Parade today but who needs mermaids when you have blue devils? Although it's the hairstyle of the girl on the left that I'm vibing most at the moment. Equally cute and edgy...as are the three en toto.

A Simple Guide to Charm Bracelets

Featuring a modular design, charm bracelets allow users to attach various different ‘charms’ such as beads or other miniature ornamental pieces to the chain – in so creating a potentially unique fashion statement. And with so many different charms out there to investigate, from plastic and glass examples right through to genuine silver, gold and even diamond pieces, there’s something for every budget. With such an abundance of delights to choose from, it’s possible to get a great look whether you’re a young girl with pocket money to spend or a career woman looking for a piece of jewellery that will get really people talking.

charm2

One great feature of charm bracelets is the ease with which wearers can change up the style of their favourite jewellery. If you fancy a brighter set of charms to reflect the coming summer months, then you can change the entire appearance of your bracelet within a matter or minutes. A subtle change can even help you adapt your charm bracelet to match whatever you decide to wear on a particular day.

charm1

While many women are more than aware of just how effective a charm bracelet can be at applying the final touch to a well-planned outfit, not many are aware of just how much history they have behind them. Indeed, the uninitiated could be forgiven for presuming that the bracelets are something of a new trend – but while it’s true that they have been bang back in style for the past 10 years or so, they have been around for much, much longer than many would imagine.

In fact, it’s thought that charm bracelets were even worn as far back as prehistoric times by superstitious types in the hope of keeping evil spirits or bad luck at bay. Back then, charms were fashioned from shells, clay and the bones of dead animals – a far cry from the shiny trinkets popular today. Queen Victoria is also reported to have been a big fan of charm bracelets, with her endorsement influencing a large contingent of the noble classes to follow suit and construct their own.

Suitable for almost any occasion, it’s easy to see why charm bracelets continue to endure. With infinite combinations to choose from, wearers are able to show off a unique piece of wristwear every single time they choose to tinker with their charm arrangement. If you’ve not yet had the pleasure of putting together your own trademark bracelet then get to work – and don’t be surprised when it becomes your most asked after piece of jewellery.

Becka Diamond & Chelsea Leyland at the Ash Store Opening

I love that Becka has the super white blonde hair again. It's a great contrast to her all black wardrobe. I just met Chelsea the other night and she's super sweet. Her style is a bit more girly than Becka's but still intriguing.
I also had a chance to meet Solange Knowles who could not be a nicer person. She was rocking a Diane Von Furstenberg dress in this photo. And my friend and emerging fashion designer Scott Stevenson is the cute boy on the left!

Chic Sisters at the Ash Store opening

On the left is The Glamourai.com's, Kelly Framel who attended the event with her sister. These two are utterly adorable in full minis that are nipped at the waist. I love how Kelly paired with a blazer which gives it a slightly formal look and the black and white clutch is great!

Blogging Tips ~ Alexa Toolbar and Extension

Every so often I will blog about "blogging" and internet tips to help your website. Are you familiar with Alexa? Alexa is a web information company that provides free traffic metrics, search analytics, demographics and more for websites.
At the Beach
One feature I like is the Hot Topics - what people are searching for on the web right now. You can also search top sites by category and country. For your own personal website, be sure to add the toolbar. You can check your personal website traffic stats and keywords. You can type in other related websites to compare. They even provide a "wayback" machine that captures a snapshot of the way your site looked in the past. This is really cool, because you do forget! Be sure to add the toolbar and extension to see how other websites measure up to yours. That's all for now!

An homage to Versace

In the '90s, if you were a gay boy, you needed two things: abs, and a silk print Versace shirt. Well, the abs stuck around, but silk prints died off. This ambiguously gay youth is paying homage to the great, but in his own way. The sleeveless version modernizes the look, but keeps it relevant by adding punk vibe.
