Lo Bosworth: Not Starring In L.A. Candy Movie

Reports of Lo Bosworth starring in the movie adaptation of Lauren Conrad's novel, L.A. Candy, have been greatly exaggerated.

Lauren was quoted recently saying that not only has Lo taken acting classes, but that Lo was also her first pick for the flick. L.A. Candy is being made for the big screen by the producers of Twilight.

"It was more of a joke than anything," Lo explained to us the other day at Jumpstart and the Pearson Foundation's National Read for the Record Day event in L.A.

"We were on the red carpet together and they were like, 'Who do you want to be in the movie?'" she said. "I would love to make a cameo, but I don't think I could handle a big role because I'm not an actress. A cameo would be really fun."

Not so fun anymore? The Hills

"For me, it's turned into much more of a job," Lo griped about MTV's pseudo-reality series. "Before, it was a lot of fun for me. Now it's kind of like a daily grind where before it was lighthearted and easy."

Her future with the show is up in the air.

"I haven't totally decided," Lo said when asked about signing up for another season. "I have some other projects that I'm working on."

Lauren Conrad: Pampered Princess

Taking a personal timeout midway through the week, Lauren Conrad was spotted treating herself to a luxurious afternoon in Beverly Hills yesterday (October 7).

The “L.A. Candy” author looked lovely as she meandered around the swanky neighborhood in search of some personal pampering and retail therapy opportunities.

First, Lauren hit up the Kate Somerville Skin Care Clinic where she spent around two hours undergoing some beautification treatments.

From there it was on to the high-end boutiques of Beverly Hills to comb the racks for some new duds and accessories.

Lauren Conrad: Kohl’s Chick

Always looking to what’s next, Lauren Conrad was spotted at the launch of her new LC collection for Kohl’s department store last night (October 1).

The former Hills babe looked flirty and fun as she arrived at the West Hollywood shindig on Melrose, sporting a loose-fitting short black dress with matching funky heels.

During a recent interview, Lauren confessed that she’d be a horrible pick to play the role of Jane Roberts in the film adaptation of her novel “L.A. Candy.”

“I think my acting is offensive! I’m an awful actor, I’m not super comfortable with it. In fact I was just trying to do lines … and they’ll tell you, I cannot memorize lines.”

Lauren Conrad scores movie deal for L.A. Candy

Good news for those who were less than enthused about Kristin Cavallari's debut on The Hills last night: Lauren Conrad is making her way back to the screen. Well, sort of. Conrad's debut novel, "L.A. Candy" is being made into a movie.

Temple Hill Entertainment has acquired the screen rights to the book, and Conrad herself will serve as executive producer, Variety reports.

The novel, which has been on the New York Times' bestseller lists for 14 weeks, seems to mimic Conrad's own experience in L.A.: A 19-year old girl moves to Hollywood, becomes the star of a reality series and subsequently has to learn how to deal with the flash of the paparazzi's bulbs.

Conrad is slated to write two more books for the series.

"Lauren, who became an icon in that reality-show world, came to us with a structure of how to tell the story in an interesting fashion that was separate and apart from the book," Temple Hill's Mary Bowen said. "We loved her take. Her book is an honest portrayal of what it must be like to set out to be normal, then sign on to become famous and eventually realize: wow, this isn't at all what I'd planned for myself."

Hmm ... sounds familiar. What do you think? Will the movie show us the behind-the-scenes juice we never got to see during Conrad's stint on The Hills, or will it just be more of the same of what we got on MTV?

Lauren Conrad: Shape Magazine September '09

When we last checked in with Lauren Conrad for our January 2008 cover, she seemed to have everything going for her: She was the star of the hit reality show The Hills, and her high-end clothing line was in chic boutiques around the country. Yet, despite her outward success, Lauren now admits her confidence was really flagging. "People I thought I could count on were undermining me, and my self-esteem took a hit," she says. Fast-forward 18 months and it's a very different Lauren who bounces into a New York City photo studio. Despite dramatic changes in her career, the natural beauty is glowing with energy and confidence.

What changed? Since quitting the show, the 23-year-old has achieved her dream of writing a novel (L.A. Candy topped the New York Times bestsellers list as this issue went to press), and she's started a budget-friendly fashion line for Kohls, which she says reflects who she is better than her previous designs. The quintessential California girl not only shares her secrets for looking gorgeous, she also opens up to Shape about how she's become more self-assured. "I'm much more comfortable with who I an now," she says. "I've learned that you've got to stay true to yourself. It's the only way you'll be really happy."

EMBRACE CHANGE
The idea of leaving the Hills was scary - after all, the show launched her career. But once Lauren made the break, she was excited to have the chance to explore other interests. "I like to be involved in a lot of projects," she says. "I've found that your always learning when you do different things - and you never get bored! I enjoy a challenge." It's that attitude that helped Lauren write a novel about a young woman's adventures on a reality television show. "I discovered that I really love writing," says Lauren. "But it's intimidating to start the first page of a book when you have hundreds of pages ahead of you." As she's done with her other ventures, Lauren jumped right in, pushing through the process without worrying about the end result. "Once I got over the stress of starting the story," she says, "I just took it one chapter at a time."

MAKE YOUR WORKOUT FIT YOUR LIFESTYLE
Always on the go, Lauren has found sticking to a regular exercise routine tough for the past few months. But with the help of Los Angeles celebrity trainer Jarett Del Bene, she's come up with a do-it-yourself workout. "Basically it's a circuit I can do anywhere - in my hotel room when I'm traveling or at home in my living room," says Lauren. "There are just five moves: squats, sit-ups, push-ups, couch dips - where I balance on the edge of a couch and lower my hips, then press up - and planks. I do 20 reps of the first four moves, then hold the plank for 20 seconds. I go through the entire circuit six times. No equipment required."

CURB YOUR CRAVINGS
Despite her hectic lifestyle, Lauren's been eating healthier than ever before. She's gone from calorie counting to a more flexible approach: She gets plenty of fruit, like watermelon and grapefruit; organic salad greens; and lean protein, like turkey, tuna, and beans. "I've found when all I'm eating is really fresh, healthy foods, I stop craving pizza and burgers," she says. Lauren's even switched to super nutritious nibbles (what she calls "snack plates"): hummus, sliced turkey, cucumbers, and apples. "When I have these foods in front of me, I find it easier to avoid high-calorie binges," she says.

When a pizza craving does hit, however, rather than deprive herself, she's discovered a healthy alternative: "At California Pizza Kitchen, they make a salad pizza with greens, tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette on a very thin crust," she says. "It tastes great without the guilt."

GET YOUR HEART RATE UP
One of the best things to happen to Lauren this year was starting a relationship with actor Kyle Howard. But after just a few months of dating, Lauren found she was getting soft around her middle. "I call it the 'boyfriend layer,'" she says, laughing. "We were having more romantic dinners out, and I was exercising less." To get back on track, the couple started working out together. "We like doing outdoor stuff: tennis, bike riding, kayaking, stand-up surfing, hiking in the canyons around L.A.," says Lauren. "I just ask Kyle, 'You feel like working out?' It's more fun than hitting the gym alone."

FIND YOUR STRENGTH
Lauren's confidence got a jump-start after a pep talk from her mother and a close friend. "Nine months ago, I reached my breaking point," she says. "I felt bad about myself because certain people were relentlessly attacking me and my reputation. My mom kept saying, 'Let it go, Lauren. It doesn't matter.' My friend also sat me down and asked, 'Why do you care what people say about you? How does it really affect you at the end of the day?' I couldn't come up with a good answer and realized I had to stop worrying about what other people think. The next day I got a tattoo on my lower back that says 'sticks and stones,' because they may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Once I let go of that, I felt more confident about myself. And that," she says, "made my decision to leave The Hills pretty easy."

Whitney's Blog: L.A. Candy is a GREAT Read!!!

I just finished reading Lauren's book L.A. Candy and I absolutely loved it!!! It was an ideal summer read and it was so fun to see how our lives were re-imagined on paper. Of all the book's characters, the protagonist Jane was the truest to real life in my opinion. She was very Lauren!

As a former cast member of The Hills, I could truly feel everything Jane was going through, since the book was based on Lauren's experiences as a reality star. Everything was just so familiar.

Lauren is a wonderful writer...so fun and breezy! I finished the book in a week...maybe even less. I'm SO proud of her and I can't wait to read her next book!!!!

P.S. I love how in the magazine clip above it says I was trying to hide what I was reading but it says "Lauren Conrad" in huge letters on the spine!!! LOL.

Speaking of Whitney showing up in magazines, she was also featured in German Glamour's September 2009 Issue.

Lauren Conrad Has a Really Awesome Muse

Lauren Conrad may not have the best taste in boys or former besties, but she sure knows how to pick a muse.

Nope, it's not Hemingway or F. Scott Fitzgerald who moves her. The Hills hottie and L.A. Candy author gets her literary inspiration from none other than E!'s own Chelsea Handler.

"I love people who can bring their voice into the story," the starlet told OK! magazine this past weekend. "I just read both of Chelsea Handler's books and I love them because you can hear her voice in there. I think that's really great that you bring personality to story."

Ironically, one of L.C.'s frenemies, Kristin Cavallari appears on Chelsea Lately this week accusing Conrad of not having a personality.

Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth: Barneys Babes

Enjoying a refreshing retail excursion, Lauren Conrad teamed up with Lauren Bosworth for a visit to Barneys New York in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (July 28).

After checking out the upscale department store’s selections, the MTV reality star gal pals toted a few large shopping bags of purchases out to their nearby car.

As previously reported by Gossip Center, Miss Conrad is currently eyeing the producer role as she tries to get L.A. Candy adapted for the big screen.

Talking about the former MTV reality star’s hopes, a source tells People magazine: “Lauren’s goal is to get into producing – it always was. It was always to make L.A. Candy into a film or TV show. She’s been in talks about it”

Hollywood may take bite of Lauren's 'Candy'

If you need your fix of Lauren Conrad now that she'll no longer be appearing on The Hills, cross your fingers: She could be coming to a big screen near you.

The former reality star has revealed that a celluloid adaptation of her roman à clef novel, L.A. Candy, could be in the works very soon.

"We're hoping for a movie deal," Conrad told us while hosting the Pool After Dark party at Harrah's. "I'm working on [adapting the book for the movies] right now, but I don't want to commit to anything until I see all my options. We have had a lot of exciting news in that respect, though."

As for casting, Conrad has no clue. "I haven't even thought about it," she confessed. And we know what that means - Conrad could be playing ... herself! Er, we mean the protagonist, Jane Roberts - a girl who moves to Hollywood, gets her own reality show and ends up working at an events company, à la Conrad herself.

But is LC writing her own stories? Frenemy - and former Laguna Beach co-star Kristin Cavallari - recently said she thought "L.A. Candy" may have been ghostwritten. "Lauren says she wrote it, but I don't know," Cavallari laughed. "Writing a book is not so easy."

A stone-faced Conrad retaliated: "I wrote my book, and I don't really feel the need to defend it. I've been writing forever. I have never written anything professionally before, so this was a big step for me. [Writing] was always my best subject in school, and it's something I've always loved to do.”

Whitney & Nick: Miami Romance

Has Whitney finally moved on from bad boy, Jay Lyons? Sure looks that way! Whitney had a busy week in Miami, showing her face at several different fashion shows. But she managed to find some time for a special guy. His name seems to be Nick Scapa - but it hasn't been confirmed. I did some reasearch and came across his Myspace page where I found this picture of the two:

These pictures below were released by Startracks Photos of Nick Scapa and Whitney at the Florida Room in Miami on July 16th. And they seemed to be attatched at the hip, literally. The next day, the Miami New Times Blog reported that she had been canoodling with someone for the City cameras.

Now there has been yet another sighting of the twosome by Pacific Coast News. Earlier today, they reported that Whit was spotted by the pool reading L.A. Candy and... enjoying some down time with a mystery male. It sure looks like him Nick Scapa to me.. see for yourself - check out the picture here!

Here's some video of Whitney enjoying the beach in Miami:
